Armenia seeks to ink peace treaty with Azerbaijan, dissolve OSCE MG by yearend – PM

Armenia seeks to sign the peace deal with Azerbaijan and dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group bodies by the end of this year, PM Nikol Pashinyan has said.

“Azerbaijan is raising the issue of dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group bodies, which overall is an acceptable agenda for us. But there is a very important nuance, we must ascertain that a situation where the chapter of the conflict is closed in the Azerbaijani territory but turns into new demands against Armenia’s territory is ruled out,” Pashinyan said at a panel discussion during GLOBSEC 2025 in Prague.

Various Azeri circles refer to over 60% of the sovereign territory of Armenia as “Western Azerbaijan”, which constitutes a territorial demand against Armenia, the PM warned.

“Our approach is to sign the peace agreement and dissolve those mechanisms at the same time. I think we must try to realize this until the end of the year,” Pashinyan said.

Armenia is ready to swiftly continue consultations with Azerbaijan in the direction of signing and ratifying the peace agreement, he added.
