German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the question of how long Russia will be able to sustain its war on Ukraine depends in part on the severity of sanctions, Al Jazeera reported.
“The question of how long Russia will be able to sustain this war also depends on how effective the sanctions are,” Al Jazeera quoted Merz as saying at a news conference in Berlin, adding that this was the reason he was pushing for the US to impose more sanctions.
Earlier on Tuesday, the European Commission proposed an 18th package of sanctions against Russia.
