Wildfire cases in Armenia decrease 41%

41% less wildfires took place in Armenia in 2024, with authorities crediting preventative measures for the significant decrease.

Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan told lawmakers at a budget report discussion that authorities implemented “significant work” in the direction of preventing wildfires.

“Taking into account, in part, the state of terrain in Armenia, the general forestry condition, our emphasis has especially been on prevention of forest fires. Significant work has been done in this direction, as a result of which forest fires decreased 41% in 2024,” the minister said.
