Cannes Film Festival: Natalia Mirzoyan’s Winter in March wins third prize at La Cinef

The Short Films and La Cinef Jury presided by Maren Ade and comprised of Camélia Jordana, José María Prado Garcia, Reinaldo Marcus Green, Nebojša Slijepčević has awarded the 2025 La Cinef Prizes during a ceremony held in Buñuel Theatre, followed by the screening of the winning films within the framework of the Cannes Film Festival.

La Cinef consisted of 16 student films, chosen out of 2 679 films entries coming from 646 film schools around the world, organizers said in a press release.

Filmmaker Natalia Mirzoyan’s Winter in March animation film received the Third Prize, tied with Miki Tanaka’s Ginger Boy.

Heo Gayoung’s First Summer took the first prize, while Qu Zhizheng’s 12 Moments Before the Flag-Raising Ceremony received the second award.

Winter in March, a joint Armenia-Estonia-Belgium production, was created with financial support by the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Cinema Foundation of Armenia.
