Lawmaker authors bill to promote military-industry innovation, R&D

A ruling party lawmaker has introduced a bill seeking to authorize the Cabinet to provide state-owned military-grade products to entities of the military-industrial complex.

Civil Contract MP Trdat Sargsyan, the co-author of the legislation, presented the bill in parliament on May 15.

“The military-industrial sector must become one of the pillars of our national security,” he said. 

He said the amendments into the law on the military-industrial complex envisage granting the government the authority to provide military-grade products with the purpose of developing, modernizing, testing and repairing new equipment.

The MP said the amendments would contribute to the development of the military industry, as well as promote research and development and advance domestic innovation. 

The bill was developed in close cooperation with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, he added.
