The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has issued a statement following an emergency alert issued by the US Embassy in Tbilisi, the Georgian Public Broadcaster reported.
The SSSG called on diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia “to respect security services, show more responsibility, and refrain from spreading statements that are not in agreement with the relevant agencies.”
The agency said that the State Security Service is investigating “another false alert.”
“The security of citizens is [the State Security] Service’s top priority, and the agency is taking all necessary and urgent measures within its authority,” the SSSG added.
The US Embassy released a warning to American citizens about potential bomb threats at three shopping centres in Tbilisi.
