Armenian Prime Minister meets with Estonia’s President

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with President of Estonia Alar Karis in Tallinn. 

President Karis welcomed the Armenian PM’s official visit and said that the trip would boost the further development of bilateral ties, the Prime Minister's Office said in a readout. 

The President mentioned the centuries-old relations between the Armenian and Estonian peoples, stressing that these ties are good basis for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

PM Pashinyan thanked for the warm reception and stressed that Armenia highly values its relations with Estonia which are based on mutual respect and historical traditions of friendship.

He said that the high-level mutual visits of the recent years are a testament to mutual commitment to strengthen the Armenia-Estonia agenda and develop political dialogue to a new quality.

The course of ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, particularly development of democratic institutions, reforms in public administration, economy and justice sectors, were also discussed. PM Pashinyan attached importance to Estonia’s support and exchange of experience in this direction.

The Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process was also discussed. PM Pashinyan said that Armenia highly appreciates Estonia’s unwavering support to the Armenian government’s efforts for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region, as well as Estonia’s clear stance in protecting Armenia’s territorial integrity.

President Karis welcomed the agreement around the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed hope that it will be signed as soon as possible. The Estonian President reiterated his country’s support to the efforts for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. 

The Armenia-EU development of ties and enhancement of cooperation were also discussed.
