Lebanese President issues statement on 110th anniversary of Armenian Genocide

On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, President of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun released a statement emphasizing that commemoration is not merely a remembrance of a painful historical event, but a reaffirmation of the fundamental values of justice, human rights, and human dignity.
“It is a reminder to the world of the importance of standing against all forms of violence, extremism, and exclusion,” Aoun stated, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
President Aoun reiterated Lebanon’s unwavering solidarity with the Armenian people in their peaceful struggle to uphold these principles. He also praised the contributions of Lebanese citizens of Armenian descent, highlighting their longstanding and constructive role in Lebanon’s political, economic, cultural, and artistic life.
“They have always been an integral part of Lebanon’s diverse and richly woven identity,” Aoun said.
Concluding his statement, the President said: “May the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and all victims of injustice and aggression around the world, rest in peace. May God protect Lebanon and its people from all harm.”
