Canadian Ambassador to Armenia Andrew Turner has highlighted the significance of the Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day on April 24.
He said he was proud that Canada is among the countries that have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide.
“The 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is a reminder to us all that we must pay attention to the lessons of history and respect the memory of all victims. I think this commemoration ceremony is incredibly moving,” he told Armenpress.
“I am very proud that Canada recognized the Armenian Genocide. I personally had a small role in that during my diplomatic career by doing research work and drafting the speech of one of our senators about it. It is something I am very proud of,” the Ambassador said.
The Canadian Senate recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2002.
