Russia's spy chief holds talks in Azerbaijan

Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia Sergey Naryshkin visited Azerbaijan April 17-18 for talks.

In a press release, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia said that during talks with the leadership of the Azeri state security service it was noted that the “constructive, mutually-beneficial and reliable” Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation through special services is “dynamically developing” and is aimed at the “protection of the national interests of Russia and Azerbaijan."

During the visit Naryshkin also held meetings with the heads of other intelligence agencies.

He also participated in a conference about Afghanistan where he praised the current leadership of the country, expressing confidence that their international recognition is “a matter of time.”
