The discussions about the provision of new assistance from the European Peace Facility to Armenia are ongoing, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan has said.
Last year, the EU Council adopted an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility worth €10 million to Armenia.
Now the issue of providing an assistance measure worth €20 million is under discussion, Mirzoyan said.
“The discussions continue, and we hope that there will be a positive resolution in the near future,” Mirzoyan said during a joint press conference with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon in Yerevan.
In turn, Fajon said Slovenia has endorsed the proposal to provide the €20 million aid to Armenia through the European Peace Facility. “On behalf of my country I can say that we endorsed and gave a strong support to that proposal,” Fajon said.
RFE/RL earlier reported, citing sources, that Hungary has blocked the €20 million aid to Armenia through the European Peace Facility.
