Armenia, France TV discuss strengthening ties in animation sector

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, Thursday received Pierre Siracusa, Director of the Youth and Education Department of the French Television Company (France TV), who arrived in Armenia at the invitation of the organizers of the ReA Festival.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Daniel Danielyan and the founder of the ReA Festival, satirist Vrezh Kasuni.

According to the ministry, Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her readiness to cooperate with France in the fields of film production, distribution and television. Acknowledging the importance of studying and mastering French experience, Andreasyan emphasized the exchange of experience in film production and broadcasting.

During his visit to Armenia, Pierre Siracusa recently met with filmmakers at the Armenian Film Foundation.

Cartoonist Vrezh Kasuni stated that the possibilities of creating animated TV series were explored during the meeting with various representatives of the industry.

“As a result of discussions with international partners, the possibility of creating an independent platform is being considered. The platform will contribute to the activation of work for creating children's and youth animated TV series with educational, cultural, and national content.”

Minister Andreasyan noted that the impact of media and social networks on the lives of children and adolescents is growing.

“Encouraging the creation of educational content is among the ministry's priority issues,” she said.

The minister also noted that the state attaches importance to joint film production and the popularization of Armenian cinema. “To this end, legislative amendments have been made. The Armenian government has approved the procedure and conditions for partial compensation of investments in the film production sector, which provides refund of up to 35 percent of investments for films shot in Armenia,” she said.

The development of animated film production, as well as the creation of educational and cultural television series, are also among the strategic directions.

According to the source, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
