Armenian, Emirati delegations hold meeting during IPU 150th Assembly

Within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on April 5-9, the Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan met with the Head of the Delegation of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Vice President of Inter-Parliamentary Union Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi.

Arshakyan noted that the UAE is one of the important and reliable partners of Armenia, the parliament’s press service said in a readout. 

Hakob Arshakyan highlighted the development of cooperation between the legislative bodies and underscored that the platforms in different parliamentary formats give an opportunity to discuss numerous issues of mutual interest.

Hakob Arshakyan presented to his colleague the situation in the South Caucasus, highlighting the establishment of peace in the region and reaffirming the commitment of the Republic of Armenia to the peace agenda.

Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi expressed his support to the efforts of Armenia aimed at establishing peace in the region and underscored the necessity of constructive steps at times of global instability.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues regarding the bilateral agenda.

The deputy speaker presented to his colleague the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project, stressing that the unblocking of the infrastructure will have its impact not only in the region, but also beyond.

The Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, MP Tsovinar Vardanyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, MP Arsen Torosyan, MP Hasmik Hakobyan and the Parliament Chief of Staff, Secretary General Davit Arakelyan were part of Arshakyan’s delegation.
