The concluded text of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan doesn’t contain any unilateral terms or anything about the constitutions of the two countries, FM Ararat Mirzoyan has said.
“We've heard the Azerbaijani side’s comments about the constitution of the Republic of Armenia. Of course, naturally there is no mention about this in the agreed-upon text of the agreement. Overall, the text of the agreement doesn’t contain any unilateral regulation. There is also no regulation about constitutions,” Mirzoyan said in the foreign affairs committee of parliament.
Mirzoyan reminded that Armenia likewise has concerns regarding the Azerbaijani constitution pertaining to territorial aspirations against Armenia.
“But it is known that we believe that we have some provisions in the text of the agreement that dispel [the concerns]. Even if theoretically, there could be such claims in the constitutions, we can consider those issues closed once and for all with the signing and ratification of the text of the agreement,” he added. The ratification would have to pass through the Constitutional Court, he said.
