France hopes for swift signing of Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty

France welcomes the conclusion of peace treaty negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the French foreign ministry said in a press release.

“France welcomes the announcement of the successful conclusion of negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. France hopes that it will be signed as soon as possible.
The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both states, should enable the South Caucasus to become an area of peace, integration, and cooperation, with open borders, for the benefit of the region's populations,” the French foreign ministry said.

French President Emmanuel Macron had also welcomed the conclusion of the negotiations.

The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan announced on March 13 that the negotiations around the peace treaty have been successfully concluded. The date and location of signing the agreement is yet to be determined.
