Armenia continues partnership relations with Russia - Mirzoyan

Armenia continues its partnership with the Russian Federation while also prioritizing the development of relations with its immediate neighbors, Georgia and Iran. These partnerships are not directed against any third party, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during a joint press conference with Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp in response to a question about possible pressure from Russia on Armenia.

According to Mirzoyan, Armenia pursues a balanced foreign policy.

"We maintain our partnership with the Russian Federation while also focusing on strengthening relations with our immediate neighbors, Georgia and Iran. We understand that some partnerships may not be welcomed by others and could even cause disappointment. However, we strive to clarify that our actions are guided by Armenia’s national interests, and none of our partnerships are aimed against a third party," the foreign minister emphasized.

FM Mirzoyan also recalled that there had been a civil initiative in Armenia, and the National Assembly adopted, in the first reading, a draft law stemming from that initiative, according to which the Republic of Armenia should begin the process of joining the European Union.
