Netherlands highly values partnership with Armenia, says FM Caspar Veldkamp

The Netherlands highly values partnership with Armenia, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Caspar Veldkamp said Wednesday in Yerevan.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan, Veldkamp said that the declaration on strategic partnership, signed between the two countries earlier in the day, is a new chapter for the development of bilateral ties.

“It’ s not often that the Netherlands signs this kind of a document. This is a rare event. It shows the devotion that we have for Armenia. This speaks about our ties,” the Dutch FM said.

He said that the strategic partnership declaration intends to strengthen political, social and economic relations.

“I am very happy to see bilateral devotion. Today we once again reiterated the principles that our ties are based on,” Veldkamp said.

The Dutch FM will attend the official inauguration of the embassy of the Netherlands in Yerevan.

“Our embassy was already functioning in Yerevan but we had not made an official opening. This is another important step for strengthening the cooperation of the Netherlands and Armenia,” he said.
