CSTO maintains ‘working ties’ with Armenia despite frozen membership, says Secretary-General

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) maintains “working ties” with Armenia, the bloc’s Secretary-General Imangali Tasmagambetov has said.
Tasmagambetov spoke about the relations between CSTO and Armenia, officially a member state that has frozen its participation in the bloc citing its failure to respond during the Azeri attacks of 2021 and 2022.
“We maintain working ties with Yerevan. I’d like to once again emphasize that the Republic of Armenia is still an ally and the organization’s obligations for the country are maintained,” Imangali Tasmagambetov told Izvestiya newspaper.
The CSTO failed to respond to the series of unprovoked Azeri attacks and invasions into Armenia after the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Parts of several Armenian provinces have been under Azeri occupation since.
