Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys has welcomed the Armenian parliament’s adoption of the EU accession bill, the Lithuanian foreign ministry said in a readout of the phone call between Budrys and Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan.
The ministers discussed the prospects for bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation in regional formats and with the European Union, the Lithuanian foreign ministry said.
“Minister K. Budrys welcomed the discussions in the Armenian Parliament on strengthening Armenia's cooperation with the EU, as well as the successful vote in the first reading on the draft law "On the commencement of the process of Armenia's accession to the European Union". The Minister emphasized the importance of the consistent work of Armenian institutions in implementing democratic reforms,” the ministry said in a readout.
"Lithuania is pleased to be able to contribute to Armenia's path towards Europe. We are implementing a project related to law enforcement and internal affairs reforms, but we do not intend to stop there. We intend to continue and expand cooperation," said K. Budrys during the call, according to the readout.
During the conversation, the head of Lithuanian diplomacy emphasized Lithuania's readiness to share expert experience in pursuing economic, energy, and trade diversification, developing a border management strategy and ensuring effective border protection work, increasing the country's resilience to hybrid threats and disinformation, and in other strategic sectors.
