Germany ready to continue supporting steps towards peace: Pashinyan, Scholz meet at Munich Security Conference

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan met with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the recent incident in Munich.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the parties discussed the agenda of Armenia-Germany bilateral relations and prospects for expanding multi-sectoral cooperation. Pashinyan highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and boosting trade and economic cooperation.

The interlocutors also addressed regional security and stability issues. Prime Minister Pashinyan presented the Armenian government's efforts to promote peace in the region, providing details about Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace project. He emphasized that the initiative is based on the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity. Pashinyan also shared updates on developments in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.

In response, Chancellor Scholz reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to continue supporting Armenia's democratic reform agenda and efforts aimed at establishing peace.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and stressed the importance of maintaining bilateral political dialogue.
