Ideology of "real Armenia'' must be registered as the official ideology of Armenia through elections, says PM

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented the stages through which the ideology of a "real Armenia" should evolve.

 "An ideological transformation is taking place in Armenia, and a transition is being made to the ideology of a 'real Armenia,'" Pashinyan said.

According to him, the first step is for that ideology to be formulated in a written document, which he stated is in its final stage.

 However, the Prime Minister considers it a zero point. "We must acknowledge that at this zero point, the ideology, formulated in written form, has zero supporters in the Republic of Armenia. And from that point, we must begin the formation and formulation of a consensus around the concept of 'real Armenia.'"

He clarified that while the actual number of supporters is not zero, he believes it is politically and methodologically correct to proceed in this way.

He also stated that he does not yet consider himself de jure a supporter of the "real Armenia" ideology.

"When that ideology takes written form, I will register myself as a supporter of it, and together with that ideology and others, we must go to the people and build support for it," Pashinyan said.

Describing the stages it should go through, the Prime Minister explained that the first stage is public discussion, followed by presenting the ideology in written form to the citizens. In the second stage, public consensus must be built.

"And in the third stage, this ideology must be tested in the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2026.  The ideology of 'real Armenia' must be registered through elections as the official ideology of the people of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Armenia," the Prime Minister said adding that the final decision will rest with the people of Armenia.
