European observers will remain in Armenia's border regions for another two years, until February 19, 2027.
Earlier today, the ambassadors of the European Union countries approved the decision regarding the EU civilian mission in Armenia in Brussels, according to RFE/RL.
According to the source, the European Union has kept the mission's mandate unchanged, first established two years ago. The mission aims to reduce incidents in Armenia's border and conflict-affected regions, lower the risk for populations living in these areas, and contribute to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations on the ground.
The composition and number of observers, according to the draft decision, will remain the same: 165 international observers and 44 Armenian staff.
The decision must also be approved by the EU foreign ministers in the near future.
