The Armenian government doesn’t plan to call snap election, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.
“Definitely not, snap election is not in our plans,” Pashinyan said when asked during an interview aired on Public Television if his recent activeness on social media could mean that his administration is preparing for snap election. “And I’d like to draw your attention on the fact that rumors about preparations for snap election always existed, there is nothing new here.”
Pashinyan said his activeness on social media is for ensuring more transparency and connecting with more people.
“Everyone must have noticed that not only have I never avoided speaking with the people, but on the contrary I myself have been taking any occasion for contacts. And this stems from a simple reality, the circumstances and origins of our government, of my election as prime minister, in short, from democracy,” Pashinyan said.
