US top diplomat Rubio, China's Wang speak in first phone call

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday  held a phone conversation with the new US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. During the conversation, they discuss important matters concerning the development of China-US relations, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Wang Yi outlined China’s principled stance on the Taiwan issue, urging the US to handle it cautiously. He reaffirmed that Taiwan has been a part of China since ancient times and stressed that Beijing will never allow Taiwan to be separated from China.
