Arayik Harutyunyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, has been elected unopposed as President of the Weightlifting Federation of Armenia.
The position became vacant when Hrachya Rostomyan resigned few days ago.
International Weightlifting Federation President Mohamed Jaloud, as well as representatives of other federations attended the election.
Harutyunyan served as Minister of Education and Science in 2018-2019. In 2019-2020 he was Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. In 2021 Harutyunyan was appointed as Prime Minister Pashinyan’s chief advisor. He has been serving as Chief of Staff since 2021.
Harutyunyan was elected for a 4-year term.
