YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, ARMENPRESS. The Cabinet has a “positive stance” on the bill on launching the process of Armenia’s accession to the EU, which was submitted to parliament by the Eurovote civic initiative after a petition, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.
Speaking at the Cabinet meeting, FM Mirzoyan emphasized the intensified and substantial cooperation between Armenia and the EU in the past few years, which encompasses the political, economic, democratic and security sectors.
“Armenia and the EU have rather intensive and dynamic relations, and these relations have had very rich content and encompassed various sectors. On various occasions, the EU expressed distinct political support to Armenia’s democracy,” he said, emphasizing the deployment of the EU civilian monitoring mission in Armenia, as well as EU’s support to strengthening Armenia’s economic resilience.
In addition to approving the bill, the Cabinet has proposed some changes in it, to conform it with the requirements of the law on normative legal acts. Amendments include paraphrasing some wordings, clarifying the timeframes of taking effect, and presenting the content as articles.
