YEREVAN, JANUARY 8, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has presented details of his phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
In response to a question from Armenpress at a press conference on 2024 activities, the FM said he discussed with FM Fidan the international situation and regional issues.
“We and the Turkish side have always expressed readiness on establishing diplomatic relations and opening the border between Armenia and Turkiye. Regrettably, the Turkish side continues to link the Armenia-Turkiye normalization with the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization, and this is a public fact,” Mirzoyan said.
According to Mirzoyan, the Armenia-Turkiye normalization would have a positive impact on the normalization with Azerbaijan.
“In my opinion, starting from the other side, meaning the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkiye, would have had positive impact on the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization, and would have made it a lot easier. But there is no such perception in Turkiye yet. We must continue dialogue on the level of ministers and special envoys, and if possible, on the level of the leaders of both countries,” Mirzoyan said.
