YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. Due to adverse weather conditions several highways in Armenia are closed or impassable, according to the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
The road connecting the Amberd high-mountain meteorological station to Lake Kari in Aragatsotn Province is closed.
The Vardenyats mountain pass is closed for trucks with trailers due to snow and fog.
The Saralanj-Zanger highway is impassable.
The Artashavan-Tsilkar highway is closed for trucks.
The Spitak curves, as well as the Stepanavan-Vanadzor and Vanadzor-Dilijan highways, are difficult to pass for trucks with trailers.
Snowfall has been reported in Aparan, Aragats, and Talin (with fog), as well as in the village of Tsilkar, the Vardenyats mountain pass, and the cities of Jermuk, Dilijan, Gavar, and Sisian.
Snow has also been observed in the villages of Lanjanist, Lusashogh, and Lanjar, as well as the “Meghri Sar,” “Zanger”-Tsghuk sections, and the Tigranashen curves, where black ice has formed.
Black ice is also present on the Saralanj-Zanger and “Chayni turns” sections, as well as on roads in the Syunik region. Foggy conditions have been reported on the Yerevan-Sevan highway and in the villages of Mayakovsky, Balahovit, Jrvezh, and Dzoraghbyur.
A blizzard is affecting the Aparan-Nigavan highway and the Aragats region.
Drivers are strongly advised to use winter tires.
The Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed to trucks, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in North Ossetia.
