Russia suggests disbanding all structures of OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. All structures of the OSCE Minsk Group that dealt with the Nagorno-Karabakh resolution are subject to dissolution, the Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said.

“All structures of the Minsk conference, meaning the Minsk Group and the post of the OSCE representative dealing with the Nagorno-Karabakh resolution, are subject to dissolution. We think that the optimal path for making such a decision would be a joint proposal by Baku and Yerevan to disband these structures,” Zakharova said at a press briefing.

Zakharova said the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs’ mandate became irrelevant after Armenia recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan after the 2022 October summit in Prague.

She said that Minsk Group Co-chairs France and the U.S. ceased contacts with Russians in February 2022. Zakharova blamed the West for blocking the work of that format.
