YEREVAN, DECEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. As part of the fight against the illegal import of tobacco products into the Republic of Armenia, the Department of Customs Service and Control at State Border Land Checkpoints of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia has recently uncovered another major case.
"During the X-ray inspection of an Armenian-registered truck arriving in Armenia from the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 'Agarak' customs checkpoint, a total of 25,000 packs of hidden cigarettes were discovered among cement bags," the Armenian State Revenue Committee said in a statement.
Based on the fact that the features of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia have emerged, within the framework of administrative proceedings initiated by the Customs Service and Control Department at the land border crossing points, the State Revenue Committee has submitted a report to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
