Ruling party to investigate suspected information leaks

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Some members of the ruling Civil Contract Party are suspected of organizing information leaks, according to Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan.

Simonyan is member of the Civil Contract Party Board.

“There is going to be an investigation. We have a board decision that all persons who have leaked materials classified as state secrets using fake names, and have done orders, will be expelled from both the party and their positions,” Simonyan told reporters.

Simonyan’s announcement comes after the Civil Contract party expelled MP Hovik Aghazaryan from party ranks for allegedly leaking highly classified information. The next day Aghazaryan said he is quitting the party’s parliamentary faction and will continue serving as an independent MP. According to the Civil Contract party, Aghazaryan has leaked classified information from closed party meetings.
