Union of Armenians of Romania passes electoral threshold, gains parliamentary seat

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. In the parliamentary elections held in Romania on December 1, 2024, the Union of Armenians of Romania, according to preliminary results, received 4,748 votes, exceeding the electoral threshold established by law for organizations representing national minorities.

As a result of the elections, the Union of Armenians of Romania will secure one mandate in the newly elected parliament, which will be assigned to Varuzhan Pambukchyan, who heads the list. He is the vice-chairman of the Union of Armenians of Romania and has been the organization’s longstanding deputy since the 1996 parliamentary elections. This will be his eighth term representing the Romanian-Armenian community in the country’s parliament.
