YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. Georgian Ambassador to Armenia, Giorgi Sharvashidze, has commented on the post by Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, who shared a publication on her Facebook page from one of the Georgian tour operators, in which Armenia's Lori region was presented as 'historical Georgia'.

Armenpress asked Ambassador Sharvashidze to comment on the post.

Armenpress: Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili shared on her personal Facebook page a post by a Georgian travel agency that has caused some anger among the Armenian society. How would you comment on this?

Ambassador Sharvashidze: "Georgia and the Republic of Armenia have a special relationship based on the strong, age-old friendship, trust and mutual respect between our peoples. Georgia and Armenia unconditionally and unwaveringly support each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the internationally recognized borders. In addition, our countries are successfully cooperating in various areas, both bilaterally and multilaterally. The declaration on strategic partnership between Georgia and Armenia, signed in 2024, elevated these relations to a new qualitative level, which will further deepen our multifaceted cooperation and positively impact regional stability and development. Any attempt that would cast a shadow over the exemplary cooperation of our countries and the age-old friendship of the Georgian and Armenian peoples is unacceptable."

Shortly after the Georgian president shared the post, the travel agency edited its post and removed the reference to ‘historic Georgia’. The travel agency instead correctly mentioned that they offer tours to Armenia.
