YEREVAN, 5 NOVEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The 9th Armenian Internet Governance Forum was held today, attended by all stakeholder groups and individuals interested in Internet governance issues.
For the ninth time, the traditional conference commenced, this year under the title "Cyber Reality and Secure Digital Future."
Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister of High-tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, welcomed attendees at the opening ceremony, wishing the forum a productive course.
"We believe that the Internet domain should be a space where people can express themselves and feel very safe. In our digitalization agenda, we place great emphasis on staying a few steps ahead in terms of cyber protection to ensure a secure environment when designing digital solutions," said Mantashyan.
John Gallagher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Armenia; Igor Mkrtumyan, Chair of the Board of the Internet Society NGO; Mikhail Anisimov, ICANN Head of Global Stakeholder Engagement for Eastern Europe and Central Asia; Vahan Hovsepyan, Senior Public Affairs and Policy Advisor at RIPE NCC and member of the ICANN Intergovernmental Advisory Group; Nick Herka, European Regional Community Engagement Manager for the Internet Society; Ralph Yirikyan, CEO of Ucom; and Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, delivered opening speeches.
The speeches highlighted the significance of cybersecurity in Armenia, state policies in the areas of digitalization and telecommunications, as well as the emerging challenges and potential solutions. This was followed by panel discussions.
The conference was organized by the Armenian Internet Governance Forum Interagency Group in collaboration with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, the Internet Society NGO, and the Internet Society Armenia Chapter NGO.
Representatives of 5 international organizations and 7 countries - Serbia, Estonia, Russia, USA, Holland, Georgia, Uzbekistan - participate in the conference, jointly discussing many issues and problems related to Internet management.
