Civil Contract faction of parliament denies reports on seeking to oust Chairman of Defense and Security Affairs Committee

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 29, ARMENPRESS. The ruling Civil Contract faction of the Armenian parliament has denied media reports that it is planning to remove MP Andranik Kocharyan from the position of Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee.

“We don’t have such an agenda, such an issue has never been discussed,” the parliament majority leader Hayk Konjoryan told reporters when asked to comment on the reports.

RFE/RL’s Armenian service earlier reported citing its sources that several Civil Contract lawmakers want to remove Kocharyan from his parliamentary post. Kocharyan himself told reporters he has no information about such an initiative.
