Azerbaijan extends jail term of Ruben Vardanyan

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS. An Azeri court has extended the pre-trial detention period of the former State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Ruben Vardanyan, who was detained and jailed by Azeri forces while attempting to cross into Armenia together with over 100,000 others during the 2023 ethnic cleansing campaign perpetrated by Azerbaijan, according to local media.

Numerous other Armenians are also unlawfully jailed in Azerbaijan. Those detained include former Nagorno-Karabakh presidents Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan, Speaker of Parliament of Nagorno-Karabakh Davit Ishkhanyan, former army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former foreign minister Davit Babayan and others.
