Lawmaker says Armenian defense industry has serial production of 5th generation weapons

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Defense industry is rapidly developing in Armenia, Member of Parliament Armen Khachatryan has said.

Speaking at the parliament session, Khachatryan, the Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security, said that there are defense companies who produce 5th generation weapons in serial production.

“Indeed, we have Armenian-made weapons. Yes, we have weapons in serial production. Yes, we even have serial production of fifth generation weapons,” he said without elaborating.

The legislator said that the military industry is rapidly becoming one of the most important sectors of the economy, science and security.

The government has been strongly promoting the sector, he said.

“We have wonderful IT specialists, fine managers and fine engineers, patriotic investors who are directing their huge resources in this direction, of course also with the goal of profiting. The defense industry is rapidly developing in Armenia,” the MP said.
