YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. The economic activity in Armenia continues to be high due to the impact of drastic growth in base metals industry and the consumption and economic activities of the forcibly displaced persons of Nagorno-Karabakh living in Armenia, according to finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.
“The economic activity remains quite high. This is mostly due to the effects of the drastic growth in base metals manufacturing and the consumption and economic activities of the forcibly displaced persons of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Hovhannisyan told lawmakers at a committee hearing on the budget performance report.
Armenia recorded 10,4% economic activity growth in the first half of the year, mostly driven by the growth in base metals industry, trade and services. Construction and agriculture also contributed to the growth.
