Bulgarica Dance Group Joins Mount Prospect Celebration of Cultures in Illinois

YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS/BTA. The Bulgarica Vivanov Dance Group joined the Celebration of Cultures in Mount Prospect, about 35 km northwest of downtown Chicago, Illinois for the fifth time in a row, the Bulgarica Cultural Centre says on its website. The event in Kopp Park brought together representatives of various communities to celebrate the cultural diversity of the area.

In addition to the Bulgarian performers, the festival featured dancers from Hawaii, Colombia and Belarus, mariachi from Mexico and jazz musicians from Cuba.

"Our talented dancers presented a captivating programme which enlivened the stage and enchanted the audience," Bulgarica says. Singer Sonia Membreno, born to a Nicaraguan father and a Bulgarian mother, made a special appearance. She added even more emotion to the performances which showcased Bulgarian tradition.

There was a Bulgarian cultural booth which displayed authentic artifacts. Other communities were also presented in separate booths.

Bulgarica says: "We were proud to be part of this exciting festival and to share a piece of Bulgaria with the visitors."
