Azerbaijan falsely accuses Armenia of border shooting

YEREVAN, AUGUST 16, ARMENPRESS. The Azerbaijani authorities have again falsely accused the Armenian military of opening fire at the border, the Armenian Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

“The statement disseminated by the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, alleging that on August 16th, at approximately 03:20 a.m., units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired upon Azerbaijani combat positions located in the western part of the border, does not correspond to reality,” the Armenian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

It added that the Armenian government has proposed Azerbaijan to establish a mechanism for ceasefire breach investigations.

“Of note: The Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia has proposed to the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, through diplomatic channels, the establishment of a bilateral mechanism for investigating cases of ceasefire violations,” the Ministry of Defense said.
