Levon Julfalakyan inducted into UWW Hall of Fame

PARIS, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. Retired wrestler and coach Levon Julfalakyan has been inducted into the United World Wrestling (UWW) Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony was held within the framework of the Olympic Games at the Wrestling House in Paris.  

“This is the result of many years of painstaking work. And today, the UWW is giving its assessment, for which I am very grateful,” Julfalakyan said.

As a Greco-Roman wrestler, Julfalakyan won gold at the 1986 World Championships, as well as the 1986 European Championships and at the 1988 Olympics. He retired in 1999 and was appointed head coach of the Armenian Greco-Roman Wrestling Team. He coached, among others, his son Arsen Julfalakyan, who won silver at the 2012 Olympics, and Artur Aleksanyan, who won gold at the 2016 Olympics.

UWW President Nenad Lalovic, Armenian Wrestling Federation President Robert Khachatryan and other officials were in attendance. 

Julfalakyan was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with several other renowned athletes.
