Armenian antitrust watchdog fines Globbing for deceptive ads

YEREVAN, AUGUST 5, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s antitrust regulator on Monday issued a 53 million dram fine for Globbing, a courier service operating an international delivery service, for what it described as “unfair competition” stemming from the company’s advertising methods.

In a statement, the Commission for the Protection of Competition said that its investigation concluded that at least 26% of Globbing’s delivery of goods to customers from China to Armenia have been delayed beyond the advertised deadline of “from 5 to 10 business days.” The watchdog said it looked into deliveries made from January 1, 2022 until April 25, 2023.

Furthermore, according to the watchdog, the shipping company’s website includes contradicting terms and conditions.

The regulator said it studied the terms and conditions of other companies, as well as the “dark pattern” method of deceptive advertisement.

There was no immediate public statement made by Globbing.
