Armenia moves towards significantly deepening ties with EU – Foreign Minister

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. Armenia is currently moving towards significant deepening of relations with the EU, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

“The decisions on the start of visa liberalization dialogue and providing aid to Armenia through the European Peace Facility are just two examples of a bigger picture,” Mirzoyan said at a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart when asked on the Armenia-EU ties by the Associated Press.

“We are currently undergoing a process of significantly deepening our relations with the EU, we have a new partnership agenda, we are considering and working around new mechanisms and tools, we have European aspirations and the EU acknowledges these aspirations, therefore we are now together working and thinking, as I said, about new tools, new mechanisms to bring Armenia closer to the EU and its member states and vice versa. I’d like to repeat the quote by the Armenian Prime Minister voiced at the European Parliament, ‘Armenia is ready to be as close to the European Union as the EU considers possible’.”

FM Mirzoyan added that Armenia is working not only with the EU but also the US in order to increase Armenia’s level of resilience in conditions of the challenges and threats around the country.
