Biden to hold news conference amid pressure from Democrats

YEREVAN, JULY 11, ARMENPRESS. U.S. President Joe Biden is holding a solo press conference today — his first since November — to conclude the three-day NATO summit in Washington, D.C., in one of his biggest public tests since last month's unsteady debate performance, CBS reports.

The president has acknowledged he had what he says was a "bad night" at the debate and he has been trying to prove he can be the nominee and defeat former President Donald Trump.

U.S. President Joe Biden faced fresh doubts on Wednesday about his re-election chances from heavyweights Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney, who, according to Reuters, may influence other Democratic lawmakers and financial donors.

Biden must decide quickly whether to stay in the 2024 White House race, former House Speaker Pelosi, a longtime Biden ally, said on MSNBC while declining to say definitively that she wanted him to run.

Hollywood star Clooney, a Democrat who co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser for Biden last month, withdrew his support with a damning opinion piece in the New York Times saying Biden was not the same man he was in 2020, Reuters adds.

Recently, Biden sent a letter to Democrats in Congress saying he has no intention of exiting the presidential election race.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5.
