UK Parliament dissolves ahead of July 4 general elections

YEREVAN, MAY 30, ARMENPRESS. UK Parliament has officially dissolved ahead of the snap general elections, according to a statement on the UK Parliament website.
“The dissolution of Parliament took place on Thursday 30 May 2024. All business in the House of Commons and House of Lords has come to an end. There are currently no MPs and every seat in the Commons is vacant until after the general election on 4 July 2024,” the statement reads.
According to the current legislation, the Parliament must be dissolved 25 working days prior to the general elections.
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak announced last week that King Charles III had granted his request to dissolve the Parliament.
