BTA. 40-Plus Bulgarian Tech Companies Participate in Web Summit 2023 in Lisbon

SOFIA, NOVEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS/BTA.Bulgaria participates with over 40 technology companies and startups at the Web Summit 2023 exhibition in Lisbon between November 13 and 16. The Bulgarian stand is organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency at the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the Ministry reported on Wednesday.

Innovation Minister Milena Stoycheva participated in the panel The Future of Women in Technology together with the Danish Minister for Digital Government and Gender Equality, Marie Bjerre.

Stoycheva said that the goal is to encourage women innovators and those engaged in research, to unleash their potential through the entrepreneurial and start-up ecosystem, especially in sectors that bring high added value to the economy.

Deep technology, biotechnology, healthcare and the environment are among the preferred business development areas for Bulgarian women.

According to Stoycheva, increasing women's participation in the economy by 12% could boost the GDP by up to 30% within four to five years.

The Web Summit 2023 showcases the latest trends and innovations in the digital sphere. More than 70,000 people from 160 countries are participating and will visit the event, which has participants from some 2,600 startups and more than 900 investors.
