BTA. Tourism Minister: Number of Hotels Affected by Floods Is Yet to Be Established

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS/BTA.Assessments of tourist infrastructure are still underway and the number of affected hotels by thefloods on the Southern Black Sea coastis yet to be established, Tourism Minister Zaritza Dinkova said on Wednesday after a meeting with hoteliers and tourists at the Nestinarka camping site. Later in the day she will meet hoteliers in Tsarevo and Lozenets.

"I want to thank the people who responded as well as the hoteliers who have created a very good organization," she added. More than 400 tourists were accommodated in the hotel which the Minister visited.

"A group of children was taken to safety from one of the hotels here yesterday, food and water was provided to them. There are some problems in getting the tourists out as it is currently dangerous to take them out by buses due to the need to inspect the roads. I am going to talk to tour operators to find a solution to get these people out," Dinkova stated.

"For the moment, solutions are being found to accommodate the people in need, food and water have been provided. We are powerless against natural disasters, but it must be established what exactly happened. If there are people responsible for this tragedy, they must face punishments. We are likely to encounter more and more such conditions, so we must be prepared and take preventive measures. I think that today, onUnification Day, it is important to show that if we are together, even in a crisis and in a complex situation, a solution can be found," the Tourism Minister stressed.
