BTA. Bulgaria Air Among First European Carriers to Upgrade Fleet with New Airbus A220

YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS/BTA.Bulgaria Air is among the first airlines in Europe to receive seven modern Airbus A220 passenger aircraft with A220-100 and A220-300 modifications, the air carrier's press service said Wednesday. The national carrier will use the new model for its scheduled services as early as 2023, with passengers soon to benefit from the highest level of comfort.

The delivery of the first larger Airbus A220-300 aircraft in Bulgaria took place on June 17, and two more Airbus A220-100s are expected to arrive by the end of 2023.

On July 12, the first Airbus A220-300 demonstration flight from Sofia to Varna and back took place. Representatives of the management of Bulgaria Air were on board and the flight was greeted with a water salute at Sofia Airport upon landing in the capital.

For the summer season, the airline announced that it is launching daily flights between Sofia and Burgas. From July 2 to August 27, the airline is also launching a third Sunday flight on the internal route between Sofia and Varna.
