Speaker of Parliament issues statement on Constitution Day

YEREVAN, JULY 5, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan has issued a statement on Constitution Day.

The statement reads:

“Dear countrymen, I congratulate us all on Constitution Day. Our Republic is moving forward on the path of democracy, overcoming multiple obstacles and withstanding unexpected barriers. We are resolute in building a democratic country and we realize the difficulties in achieving it. Many years ago, our people placed the commitment to civil solidarity and universal values, among other fundamental principles, at the foundation of adopting the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. Of course there’s still a lot to be done in implementing several articles enshrined in the constitution, and the work of all the branches of government is aimed at implementing reforms. I once again congratulate you on Constitution Day of the Republic of Armenia. I wish the Constitution to be truly valued by our citizens, become a table book and break the mindset that it’s only accessible to experts. Perhaps in this case we would bring democracy closer and create a society with high civic responsibility.”
