BTA. Kiril Petkov: Draft for Constitutional Amendments Will Be Completed in Ten Days

YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS.The draft for amendments to the Constitution, which is currently being finalized, will be completed in ten days, Continue the Change (CC) co-leader Kiril Petkov told journalists in parliament on Thursday.

He commented onBSP's refusal to participate in preliminary talkson the constitutional reform by saying that BSP will be invited again when talks on the completed texts begin.

Тhe constitutional change should gather as large a majority as possible, Petkov said. “We will invite BSP at every step of the talks, when they are started at an expert level,” he added.

Petkov pointed out that Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria will invite to similar talks all parties, including There is Such a People and Vazrazhdane. “We believe that when it comes to the Constitution, all parties should be part of this conversation,” he explained.

The CC co-leader noted that the role of the prosecutor general is currently being discussed. “So far we think that abolishing the prosecutor general position is the best step,” he said but added that a discussion is to be held with constitutionalists whether there should be abolition or a huge cut of the prosecutor general’s functions.
